The Armor of God Series
Book 4: Hazel's Teddy Bear Picnic
"Hazel's Teddy Bear Picnic, the fourth book in Barb Seregi’s delightful Armor of God series, is an absolute treat for young readers and their families. Centered around the Christian teaching of the Shield of Faith, this book brings scripture to life in a way that is both relatable and memorable for children.
Let’s start with the main event: the teddy bear picnic! The concept is charming and imaginative, instantly grabbing kids’ attention while setting the stage for a meaningful exploration of faith.
Barb Seregi’s writing shines with clarity and warmth, perfectly suited for a young audience. The language is simple yet profound, ensuring that the message of faith resonates with young readers. The addition of questions and memory verses at the end of the book is a masterstroke, turning story time into an interactive opportunity for reflection and discussion. Parents and educators will appreciate how these resources enrich the book’s teaching moments, making it a great tool for home or Sunday school.
The illustrations are bright, colorful, and absolutely adorable, perfectly capturing the fun and charm of a teddy bear picnic. They complement the story beautifully, and the detailed artwork invites kids to pause and explore each page, making the book even more engaging for young readers.
What I love most about Hazel's Teddy Bear Picnic is how it brings the abstract concept of faith into the tangible world of a child. The Shield of Faith becomes something kids can picture, understand, and, most importantly, apply in their own lives.
Whether you’re a parent looking to instill Christian values, a teacher seeking creative ways to teach scripture, or simply someone who loves heartwarming children’s books, Hazel's Teddy Bear Picnic is an absolute must-read. This vibrant, faith-filled adventure will leave you smiling and inspired long after the final page."
Book 3: Tommy and the Good News Shoes
"This book gives kids some great ways to understand the armor of God (based on Ephesians 6)! In case you're not familiar, the armor of God is a biblical analogy to remind us that God protects and equips us for what we face in life. For this 3rd picture book in the series, the author focuses on this part of the passage: 'Stand firm then...with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.'
This sweet, playful book helps kids know what that means in their own lives by comparing the armor of God to the types of shoes they're familiar with. It shows how shoes like ballerina slippers and football cleats protect our feet and keep us ready for the task at hand. This is just like how the relying on the good news of Jesus keeps us ready for whatever may happen in life. I think young kids would find this shoe analogy very relatable and the situations in the story very engaging!
I also love the colorful, pleasing illustrations and the authentic, childlike interactions of the characters. Very fun read!"
